Biographical Note

Nevadan, longtime black welfare rights advocate, organizer of Operation Life (a self-help program for low-imcome blacks), and formerly on the national board of the National Organization for Women.


Scope and Content

Included is the story of Operation Life (O.L.) describing O.L. and its predecessor, the Clark County Welfare Rights Organization. Theresa Traber's thesis, The impact of Operation Nevada, an organizational campaign of the National Welfare Rights Organization (1980), provides a history and analysis of the 1960s and the 1970s welfare reform movement in Nevada.
