Abstract:  Records of the Bliss family businesses which centered around Lake Tahoe, California and Nevada, include those of the Carson and Tahoe Lumber and Fluming Company, Lake Tahoe Transportation Company, Lake Tahoe Railway and Transportation Company, Sierra Realty Company, Truckee Lumber Company, Lake Tahoe and San Francisco Water Works, and Glenbrook Improvement Company. Topics include the lumber industry; Lake Tahoe development; Lake Tahoe tourism industry; Tahoe Tavern at Tahoe City; railroads and steamships at Lake Tahoe; development and history of Glenbrook, Nevada, and the Glenbrook Hotel; and controversy over the use and levels of water at Lake Tahoe. A small number of personal papers of the Bliss family and a collection of photographs are also part of this collection.

Title:  David S. Ziegler Papers on the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (2015-29)
   
Abstract:  The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Records date from 1963-2008. Ziegler was an environmental engineer, who from 1989-1994 was executive director of TRPA. The collection includes TRPA reports and some from the earlier Lake Tahoe Area Council organization, and the 2002 Supreme Court decision and associated documents on the Tahoe-Sierra Preservation Council (TSPC) vs. Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) case.

Abstract:  Chonokis was a girl's camp at Stateline, South Lake Tahoe, California from 1927-1952. The camp was owned by Mabel Winter Whitney and co-managed by Gladys G. Gorman. Records include correspondence, subject files, camp brochures, enrollment forms, financial records, daily schedules, architectural drawings, sketches and paintings, photographs, 16 mm home movie film, log books of poetry and prose, and Whitney's personal files of letters, school records, and Barley Food Products (Morgantown, West Virginia) company correspondence.

Abstract:  The records in this collection document the Cooperative Extension Service from 1934-1980, but primarily focus on 4-H programs, including the purchase and development of the Lake Tahoe camp. The director during much of this period was Cecil W. Creel, but Thomas E. Buckman was the extension administrator most closely in contact with the counties. Raymond C. Cox, a county extension agent, became the 4-H program director in 1961. In addition, there are limited records on general agricultural programs and the College of Agriculture.

Abstract:  Statement, comments and letters by William S. Bliss and Edwin Duryea, Jr., consulting engineer for the Association. The Association was seeking to prevent the Reclamation Service from adding additional storage capacity to the dam at Lake Tahoe; the increase in capacity was to benefit the Newlands Reclamation Project near Fallon, Nevada.
